Terms of use
These are the rules for using Markr, run by Aaron Godwood. By creating an account you agree to them. The first part applies to everyone; the part for tutors applies if you have a tutor account. How Markr handles your data is in the privacy notice.

Your account
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Give a name you are happy for your tutor to see. A first name or nickname is fine.
- If you are under 13, ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
- One account per person, please.
Using Markr fairly
Please don't:
- try to get into other people's accounts or see work that isn't yours;
- try to break, overload or copy Markr, including scraping its questions in bulk;
- put anything offensive, or anyone's personal details, into answers, messages or questions;
- send reports that aren't about a real problem with a question.
If you do, your account may be suspended or closed.
Marking and questions
Markr marks answers automatically and its questions are checked carefully, but mistakes happen. Treat its marks as a guide, not a guarantee of exam results. If you think something is wrong, use "Report a problem" under the question and it will be looked at.
Markr's questions are written for practice in the style of the AQA GCSE specifications. Markr is not made or endorsed by AQA.
Price
Markr is currently free. If that changes, you will be told at least 30 days before, and you will never be charged for anything without agreeing to it first.
For tutors
- Approval. Tutor accounts are checked before they open, and may be declined or closed if they aren't being used to teach.
- Your students. Only add students you actually teach, and make sure they (or, for under-13s, their parent or guardian) know you are using Markr. You are responsible for your students' data in the way the data processing terms describe, and agree to those terms by using a tutor account.
- Your questions. The questions, worksheets and lesson plans you write stay yours. You give Markr permission to store and show them so the service works. Unless you mark a question private, other tutors on Markr can see it and use it with their own students, and you can use theirs in the same way. If you publish a question, students can practise it.
- Other people's material. Only add material you have the right to use. In particular, don't copy exam board papers or textbook questions into Markr unless you have permission. The past paper questions some students see on Markr are not shared with tutors.
- Reports. Reports about your questions come to you at Reports. Please look at them, as students rely on the marking being right.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing hello@markrmaths.com. Markr may close an account that breaks these terms, usually after a warning. If Markr ever shuts down, you will be given notice and, where you ask, a copy of your work.
If something goes wrong
Markr is provided as it is, and while I work to keep it running and correct, I can't promise it will always be available or error-free. As far as the law allows, I am not responsible for losses caused by Markr being unavailable or by a marking mistake. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes and law
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the date at the top will change and, for significant changes, I will let you know first. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
